Additional information

The Battle of Britain ran from July to October 1940, and by its end the RAF had lost over 1,000 aircraft and more than 500 pilots killed. The Isle of Man had a particular connection to the campaign — several Manx pilots flew with Fighter Command, and the island itself hosted prisoner-of-war and internment camps holding thousands of enemy aliens and Axis nationals throughout the war.

The KM#1033a designation indicates the silver variant within a broader commemorative release that included base-metal strikings.
