Obverse description Right-facing crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, modelled by Raphael David Maklouf, wearing the George IV State Diadem and a pearl necklace, with fine detailing on the hair and robes. The legend ELIZABETH II is inscribed along the upper left periphery, with ISLE OF MAN and the date 2000 arranged along the right and lower right periphery, all in raised Latin capital letters. The initials RDM, denoting the engraver, appear discreetly at the lower truncation of the portrait. The field is deeply mirrored, consistent with proof-quality striking, and the coin is bordered by a fine toothed inner rim.

Reverse description The central field depicts a dramatic aerial combat scene commemorating the Battle of Britain, featuring a large foreground Supermarine Spitfire bearing the fuselage code ZP◊A in sharp relief, engaged in close formation with a Hawker Hurricane and several other aircraft including German Luftwaffe types rendered in the background. The composition conveys a dynamic sense of aerial combat through overlapping fuselages, wings, and vapour trails across the polished field. To the lower right, a parachuting figure descending on a deployed canopy adds further narrative detail to the scene. The circumferential legend 60th ANNIVERSARY OF THE BATTLE OF BRITAIN is inscribed along the left and upper periphery, with the denomination 1 CROWN centred at the base, all in raised Latin capitals separated by raised dots.
