Obverse description Right-facing crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, wearing the George IV State Diadem, as sculpted by Raphael David Maklouf. The portrait is rendered in high relief against a deeply mirrored field, with fine detail in the hair and crown. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left periphery and QUEEN OF GIBRALTAR along the right, both within a beaded border. The date 2012 appears in the lower exergue beneath the portrait.

Additional information

Issued to mark the Diamond Jubilee, this Gibraltar crown carries a pointed historical detail: the Falkland Islands appear in the title because 1982 was the year of the Argentine invasion and the subsequent British military campaign to retake the territory. The conflict ended in Argentine surrender on June 14th, 1982, and its inclusion here frames it — deliberately — as one of the defining events of Elizabeth II's reign rather than simply a military footnote.
