Gibraltar has issued commemorative crowns with remarkable frequency since the 1970s, and by 2012 the territory had produced dozens of Elizabeth II jubilee pieces — this being one of several tied to the Diamond Jubilee cycle marking sixty years since the 1953 Coronation. The silver-plated copper-nickel construction places it firmly in the non-circulating collector market, struck for retail rather than any monetary function.
