Beschrijving voorzijde The Gibraltar Government Coat of Arms is prominently displayed in the central field, rendered in fine detail. A circular legend surrounds the device, bearing the royal titles of King Charles III along with the issuer name and date. The denomination ONE CROWN appears below the arms. The inscriptions are presented in upright Latin characters with a formal, heraldic composition typical of British Commonwealth commemorative coinage.

Aanvullende informatie

Gibraltar has issued commemorative crowns under licensing arrangements for decades, frequently featuring subjects with no geographic or historical connection to the territory. This Tutankhamun piece falls squarely in that tradition — Egypt's boy pharaoh died around 1323 BC, and the discovery of his intact tomb by Howard Carter in November 1922 triggered a wave of Egyptomania that has never fully subsided. The centenary of that discovery in 2022 prompted a predictable flood of commemorative issues from mints worldwide.

The selective gold plating process used here applies precious-metal appearance to specific design areas over a base copper-nickel flan.
