| Additional information |
Gibraltar issued this piece to mark the 80th anniversary of the June 1944 Normandy landings, a campaign in which the Rock itself played a logistical role as a staging and communications node for Allied Mediterranean operations. The commemorative crown format has been Gibraltar's workhorse for licensed collector issues since the 1970s, and the territory has produced D-Day anniversary pieces across multiple reigns.
Gold-plated copper-nickel at this weight is a collector commodity format, not a circulation issue.
