| Obverse description | Crowned third bust effigy of King Charles I facing left, rendered in the hammered style typical of Tower Mint production of the early 1630s. The denomination mark appears in the field behind the bust. A Latin legend encircles the portrait within a beaded or wire inner circle, reading CAROLVS·D:G:MAG[:BRIT]:FR:ET·HI:REX.
