| 表面の説明 | Central field dominated by the heraldic shield of the Paleologi Marquises of Montferrat, displaying the dynastic arms within an ornate cartouche. The shield is flanked by elaborate decorative mantling rendered in the late Gothic style typical of Italian Renaissance hammered coinage. A crowned helmet surmounts the shield, with flowing lambrequins extending to either side. The peripheral Latin legend reads GVLI MA MO FE, an abbreviation for Gulielmus Marchio Montisferrati, running clockwise around the coin's circumference. |

Guglielmo IX ruled Montferrat during a period when the marquisate was caught between the competing pressures of France, Milan, and the expanding ambitions of Savoy. The cornuto denomination — named for the small horns on the helmet in the design — was a regional silver struck to compete with the heavier coinages flooding northern Italian markets from larger neighbors. Montferrat's own mint output was modest, and surviving pieces attributable specifically to Guglielmo IX's reign rather than his predecessors often require careful die study against the CNI references.
