Obverse description Facing bust of Francisco Hernández de Córdoba, the Spanish conquistador and founder of Nicaragua's principal cities, positioned at center. A circular legend reading REPÚBLICA DE NICARAGUA arcs across the upper field, with the date 1912 and the mint mark H appearing at the bottom. This piece is an obverse trial strike, produced to evaluate the die design, with the reverse left blank.

Reverse description Blank planchet with no design, devices, or inscriptions struck, consistent with its function as a one-sided obverse trial piece intended solely to assess the obverse die. The flat, featureless reverse surface retains the natural texture of the aluminium planchet as prepared at the Heaton Mint.
