Reverse description Centrally placed oval shield bearing the quartered arms of Bavaria — the fusilly lozengy field of Bavaria proper combined with the Palatinate lion rampant — surmounted by an Electoral crown. The shield is flanked by crossed sprigs of laurel and olive tied at the base, symbolizing peace and victory. The date appears in the lower exergue beneath the sprigs. The encircling legend GOTT UND DAS VATERLAND runs around the upper periphery, divided by the crowned shield, with a milled border at the rim.
