Obverse description Uniformed bust of Maximilian I Joseph in right profile, wearing a high-collared military coat with decorative epaulette visible at the shoulder. The king's hair is rendered in short, naturalistic curls. The legend MAXIMILIAN IOSEPH KONIG VON BAIERN encircles the effigy along the periphery, reading from lower left to lower right. The portrait is finely engraved in a neoclassical style, set within a plain recessed field bounded by a beaded inner border.
