Reverse description Central device depicting the cross badge of the Order of Saint Michael, a Maltese-style cross with radiating glory issuing from the centre, upon which appears a medallion with the figure of the Archangel Michael. The cross is flanked on the left by an olive branch and on the right by an oak branch, their stems crossing at the base. The circular legend DER ST.MICHAELS-ORDEN ZUM VERDIENST-ORDEN BESTIMMT runs along the periphery, with the date 1837 placed in the lower exergue. The entire design is enclosed within a toothed inner rim.
