正面描述 Central shield bearing the East Frisian arms — a displayed eagle — within a plain border. The date appears in the upper field above the shield. The surrounding legend, interrupted by lis-shaped stops, records the abbreviated titles and names of the two co-ruling counts, Edzard II and John (Johann). The design is executed in the plain, functional hammered style typical of north German small silver coinage of the later sixteenth century.

附加信息

Edzard II and his brother John ruled East Frisia jointly from 1561, a co-regency that produced persistent tension between Calvinist and Lutheran factions within the county. The Ciffert — a regional denomination peculiar to the Frisian monetary tradition — was issued during a period when East Frisia was navigating the competing pressures of Dutch Reformed influence from the west and Lutheran orthodoxy backed by the Holy Roman Empire.

The Kappelhoff reference places this type firmly within the documented coinage of the brothers' uneasy partnership, which ended only with John's death in 1591.
