Obverse description Draped bust of Marianne, the allegorical figure of the French Republic, facing right with long flowing hair surmounted by a Phrygian cap secured by a ribbon. An olive branch rises from the truncation and passes through the ribbon of the cap, serving as a symbol of peace. The engraver's name DANIEL-DUPUIS appears in relief below the bust truncation. The legend REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE encircles the upper periphery of the field. The design reflects the refined Beaux-Arts style characteristic of Dupuis's medallic work of the period.
