Obverse description Central device features the Mexican national arms: an eagle displayed in left profile, perched upon a cactus plant growing from a rocky outcrop amid water, with a serpent clutched in its beak and talon. The design is rendered in moderate relief with fine detail in the wing feathers and cactus. A wreath of laurel and oak branches frames the base of the central device. The circular legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS arcs around the upper periphery in raised Latin lettering, separated from the beaded border by a narrow flat rim.
