| Obverse description | Central field features the Nicaraguan national coat of arms, depicting a triangular landscape with a volcanic range rising from the sea beneath a rainbow, flanked by two staffs bearing national flags draped to either side and surmounted by a Phrygian cap radiating light. The shield is set upon crossed cannons and rifles at the base. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE NICARAGUA runs along the upper periphery in raised Latin letters, with a beaded border encircling the entire design. |

| Additional information |
Nicaragua's 1892 coinage was prepared in anticipation of a modernized decimal system, with pattern strikes produced to evaluate proposed compositions before official issue. The copper-nickel alloy tested here was ultimately rejected in favor of other specifications, making Pn7 a dead-end in the series — produced for official inspection, never for circulation.
