Obverse description Central field bears the Nicaraguan Coat of Arms, depicting a equilateral triangle enclosing a landscape of five volcanoes rising from the sea beneath a radiant sun and rainbow, surmounted by a Phrygian cap atop a pole, all flanked by two crossed flags and two crossed cannons resting on a drum below. The arms are encircled by the arc legend 'REPUBLICA DE NICARAGUA' reading from lower left to upper right along the periphery. A beaded border frames the entire design.
