The "Light Type" designation distinguishes this issue from the heavier centavo it replaced — a deliberate reduction driven by postwar copper costs rather than any change in monetary policy. Honduras contracted these strikes to foreign mints during a period when the Banco Central, established only in 1950, was still consolidating its control over domestic coinage production.
