| 表面の銘文 | REPUBLICA DE NICARAGUA (Translation: Republic of Nicaragua) |
| 裏面の説明 | The denomination and date are displayed within an open wreath of oak branches tied at the base with a ribbon bow. The numeral 1 appears prominently at the top center of the wreath interior, followed by CENTAVO on the second line, and the date 1892 below, all in upright serif lettering within the plain field. The wreath branches are rendered in fine detail with individual leaves clearly delineated. A beaded border encircles the entire design, consistent with the obverse treatment. |

Nicaragua's 1892 coinage was struck at the Philadelphia Mint, which handled the republic's first modern decimal issues. A piedfort — double the standard planchet thickness — was almost certainly produced as a presentation or pattern piece for official approval rather than circulation, a common practice when a new mint relationship was being established. Philadelphia struck pieforts for several Latin American clients during this period as part of the contract confirmation process.
