正面铭文 CAMARA MUNICIPAL DE AZAMBUJA DELIBERAÇÃO DE 14 DE OUTUBRO DE 1921 VALE 1 CENTAVO O Presidente da Comissão Executiva
(Translation: City Council of Azambuja Deliberation of October 14, 1921 Worth 1 Cent The President of the Executive Commission)
背面描述 Printed in brown on cream paper with a blue underprint carrying the issuer's name in mirror image, the note shares the same decorative fan-and-rosette border as the obverse, with C.M.A. at the corners. The central panel contains a detailed riverside vignette of Azambuja, with traditional sailing vessels moored along a quay, buildings and trees stretching into the background. At the top, the denomination "VALE 1 CENTAVO" is set within a circular cartouche flanked by scroll panels, and a handwritten serial number appears at the foot of the note.

备注

Portugal's postwar coin shortage of the early 1920s pushed hundreds of municipalities into printing their own emergency paper — cédulas — to keep small transactions moving. Azambuja, a modest agricultural town on the Tagus plain, was among the smaller councils to do so, which makes its emissions rarer than those of Lisbon-area neighbors simply by virtue of lower print runs and a smaller population to preserve them.

The MA#332 reference places this within Artur Augusto Mendes de Azevedo's catalogue of Portuguese municipal issues, the standard authority for the series. Condition varies sharply across surviving examples; cédulas from small inland councils like Azambuja saw rough daily handling in markets and shops.
