| 正面铭文 | REPUBLICA ARGENTINA * LIBERTAD * (Translation: Republic of Argentina Liberty) |
| 背面描述 | Large numeral '1' dominates the upper central field, with the denomination CENTAVO inscribed below in bold lettering and the four-digit date centred in the exergue area. To the left, a tall olive or grain sprig with detailed leafwork rises vertically alongside the value, serving as the primary decorative element. The design is contained within a beaded border consistent with the obverse, presenting a clean and uncluttered layout typical of Argentine small denomination coinage of the Peso ley series. |

Argentina's early 1970s coinage was produced against a backdrop of chronic inflation that would only accelerate through the decade. The 1 centavo denomination had so little purchasing power by this point that these pieces were effectively ceremonial — struck because the monetary system still formally required them, not because anyone genuinely needed them in commerce.
The aluminium-magnesium alloy was adopted as a cost-reduction measure, the metal value of the coin having to stay well below face value in an economy where that calculus kept shifting.
