Honduras contracted these small copper pieces to foreign mints during a period when the national treasury lacked the infrastructure for domestic coinage production. The 1919–1920 dates correspond to the presidency of Francisco Bertrand, whose government collapsed mid-run in 1919 following a disputed election and armed revolt — making the two-year span of this issue less a planned series than a function of political turbulence interrupting normal procurement cycles.
