Cuba's centavo series ran virtually uninterrupted across some of the island's most turbulent decades — the Machado dictatorship, the 1933 revolution, the Batista years, and the early Castro period — yet the coin's design and composition held firm throughout. Production shifted among mints, with Philadelphia striking the bulk of issues and Havana handling select years. The series ended not with a formal redesign but with the broader monetary reorganization that followed the revolution consolidating power after 1959.
