Additional information

Guatemala's 1881 centavo issues came during the liberal reform period under Justo Rufino Barrios, who had overhauled the country's monetary system following the decimal reform of 1873. The shift toward copper-nickel for small denominations reflected a broader Central American move away from pure copper, which had proven too soft for sustained circulation in tropical climates.

KM#202 is a one-year type.
