Additional information

Honduras contracted most of its late 19th-century copper coinage to foreign mints — Birmingham and Heaton's being the primary suppliers — as the country lacked the domestic infrastructure for striking base-metal issues at scale. The 1 centavo series running through this period was introduced following the monetary reform that established the peso system, which itself was repeatedly destabilized by the chronic political instability of the region, including multiple coups and the brief involvement of foreign creditors in restructuring national finances.

Later dates in this run, particularly after 1900, are notably scarcer in surviving examples, likely reflecting reduced order quantities as the economy contracted.
