Obverse description Left-facing draped bust of Liberty wearing a laurel and floral wreath, her hair elegantly arranged with curls falling to the neck. The legend REPUBLICA DE CHILE arcs around the upper periphery, while the mint mark 'S' appears in small relief at the lower right of the bust near the rim. The entire design is enclosed within a fine beaded border. The portrait reflects the classical neoclassical style characteristic of engraver Jean-Baptiste Auguste Barre.
