The bank title 江西裕民銀行 (Kiangsi Yu Ming Bank) occupies a horizontal panel at the top, with official seal cartouches flanking the rosette at left and right. The denomination 壹分 (1 Cent) is inscribed in bold Chinese characters at the centre of the vignette and repeated in the lower corners. |

The Kiangsi Yu Ming Bank was one of dozens of provincial and local Chinese banks that issued their own paper currency during the Nationalist period, when central monetary authority remained fractured across competing regional powers. These institutions operated under provincial government patronage and filled genuine gaps left by the major treaty-port banks, which had little interest in small rural denominations.
The Shanghai Ta Tung Book Co. handled a significant share of provincial note printing in this period — cheaper than engaging foreign security printers like Waterlow or De La Rue, and faster. The 1-cent denomination suggests this was intended for daily retail transactions in Kiangsi, where coin shortages periodically pushed even fractional paper into active use.
P#S1125 is sparsely documented, and surviving examples appear infrequently in Western auction records.
