Obverse description Central field dominated by a large, bold royal cipher 'W' surmounted by the Dutch Royal Crown, rendered in fine detail with pearled arches and cross finial. The date is split to either side of the monogram's lower strokes, with the first two digits to the left and the last two to the right. The coin's rim is bordered by a continuous raised dentilated edge. The overall design is austere and emblematic, characteristic of early nineteenth-century Dutch coinage engraved under David van der Kellen.
