备注

Warehouse Economy Store scrip from Youngstown, Ohio occupies a genuinely obscure corner of American retail trade currency. These small-denomination paper issues were used internally — almost certainly as change-making instruments or promotional coupons redeemable in-store — during a period when regional discount retailers were competing aggressively against early big-box expansion in the industrial Midwest.

Youngstown's economy was still coal and steel in the early 1970s, just ahead of the catastrophic mill closures that would define the city by decade's end. This piece predates that collapse by a few years.
