| Obverse description | Left-facing diademed and draped bust of Queen Victoria, engraved by Leonard Charles Wyon, whose initials 'C.M.' appear on the truncation. The effigy depicts the young Victoria with hair swept back and gathered in a chignon, wearing a decorative tiara or bandeau. The circular legend 'VICTORIA' arcs across the upper field and 'QUEEN' across the lower field, both separated from the portrait by a raised inner circle. The entire design is enclosed within a distinctive Greek key (meander) decorative border, itself framed by an outer dentilated rim. |

| Reverse description | A centrally positioned coconut palm tree dominates the inner circle of the reverse, its fronds spreading widely at the crown and roots visible at the base, rendered in fine relief. To the left of the palm appear the Sinhalese characters for 'sataya' (සතය) and to the right the Tamil characters for 'satam' (சதம்), flanking the central device. The circular legend reads 'CEYLON · ONE · CENT' distributed around the upper and lateral periphery, with the date appearing in the lower exergual area. The design is framed by a beaded inner circle and an outer dentilated rim consistent with the obverse. |
