Obverse description The Cypriot coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a white dove in flight carrying an olive branch above the date 1960, the year of independence, set within a copper-coloured shield. The shield is flanked by laurel branches extending symmetrically on either side. The country name appears in the legend encircling the design, inscribed in three languages: Greek (ΚΥΠΡΟΣ), Turkish (KIBRIS), and English (CYPRUS), separated by raised dots. The date of issue, 1983, is incorporated into the legend at the lower right.
