Obverse description The national coat of arms of Trinidad and Tobago occupies the central field, rendered in fine relief with a quartered shield bearing two sailing ships and a stylised chevron, surmounted by a ship's wheel and palm tree crest. Two scarlet ibises, the national birds, serve as supporters flanking the shield, each displayed with wings spread and standing on a rocky wave base. A scroll beneath the supporters carries the national motto in the legend: TOGETHER WE ASPIRE TOGETHER WE ACHIEVE. The circular legend REPUBLIC OF TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO arcs along the upper periphery, the date 1983 appears in the lower field, and the Franklin Mint mintmark is present below the shield.
