Reverse description The central device depicts two clasped hands — one representing an African and one a European — symbolising the partnership and humanitarian aspirations of the Sierra Leone Company, rendered in finely detailed relief. The numeral 1 appears above the handshake device and again below it, flanking the central motif vertically. The circular legend ONE CENT PIECE is distributed around the periphery, reading from the lower left to the upper right. The date 1791 is inscribed in the lower exergue beneath the second numeral 1. A beaded border frames the entire design.
