Opmerkingen

Shrago's Market was a neighborhood grocery in North Omaha, a predominantly Black community that faced chronic underservice from mainstream retail through much of the twentieth century. Local scrip of this kind — issued by individual merchants in the 1970s — functioned as a loyalty and change-making tool, keeping small transactions within the store's own economy. The "BC" dating suffix here almost certainly denotes an internal business code rather than any calendar system.

North Omaha merchant scrip from this period is poorly documented and survives in very small quantities.
