Beschrijving keerzijde Central motif depicts a turtle rendered in engraved relief within a prominent rectangular raised panel occupying the majority of the field, a design element evoking a wampum belt or traditional Native American textile. The turtle, a sacred symbol in Potawatomi culture, is shown in dorsal view with shell detail. A decorative border of repeating geometric and oval elements encircles the inner field. The legend POTAWATOMI TRIBES 2023 arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination ONE CENT appears along the lower periphery.

Aanvullende informatie

The Jamul Indian Village is a federally recognized Kumeyaay band located in San Diego County — not a Potawatomi community. The Potawatomi are a Great Lakes and Plains people whose nations are headquartered primarily in Kansas, Oklahoma, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Whatever the intent behind this piece, the attribution pairing is internally contradictory, and no verified issuance record connects Jamul Indian Village to a Potawatomi-themed cent in 2023.
