| Obverse description | Central device features the Zimbabwe Bird, a stylised soapstone bird figure derived from Great Zimbabwe, perched atop a decorative plinth with geometric patterning. The date 1980 is divided across the field, with '19' to the left and '80' to the right of the bird. The legend 'ZIMBABWE-RHODESIA' curves along the lower periphery.
