Reverse description The reverse features four large Chinese characters arranged symmetrically around the central round hole, reading '百分之一' (one hundredth), rendered in bold relief within a beaded inner circle. The circumferential legend 'INDO - CHINE FRANÇAISE' is inscribed in raised Latin letters along the upper and lateral periphery. The date '1896' appears in the lower exergue, with the word 'ESSAI' (trial/pattern) inscribed in small letters to the right of the date, confirming the piece's pattern status. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border.
