Obverse description Heraldic achievement of the British East India Company occupying the central field, comprising a quartered shield supported by two rampant lions, surmounted by a crowned lion passant as crest, with two crossed flags flanking the crest. A ribbon scroll below the shield bears the Latin motto AUSPICIO REGIS ET SENATUS ANGLIÆ. The date 1810 appears prominently in the lower exergue in large numerals. The entire design is enclosed within a border of raised beads.
