Additional information

The KM#46.3 designation marks this as the third compositional variant of the Seychellois cent, the shift to brass-plated steel driven by the straightforward economics of base metal coinage — nickel-brass blanks had simply become too expensive to justify for a denomination with negligible purchasing power. Magnetic steel cores allowed the Central Bank to cut production costs while maintaining the coin's outward appearance.
