Obverse description Left-facing draped bust of Liberty in high relief, her hair elaborately braided and gathered at the nape in a style characteristic of the Braided Hair type, with flowing curls descending behind. A coronet or headband inscribed LIBERTY is worn across the brow. Thirteen six-pointed stars arranged in an arc surround the effigy — seven to the left and six to the right — with the date centered below the truncation. A beaded inner border and a denticulated outer border frame the entire design.
