Obverse description Right-facing effigy of King George V wearing an imperial crown and robes, rendered in high relief in the style of the Mackennal portrait. The sovereign's bust is draped and faces left within a beaded border. The encircling legend reads GEORGIVS V DEI GRA REX ET IND IMP, identifying the monarch as King and Emperor of India. The field is polished, giving the portrait strong contrast against the mirror-like background characteristic of proof coinage.
