Obverse description Crowned effigy of King George V facing left, rendered in high relief with selective rose gold plating applied to the crown, robes, and regalia. The king is depicted wearing the Imperial State Crown and elaborately decorated robes with floral ornaments at the shoulder. The legend GEORGIVS V REX ET IND: IMP: arcs around the upper periphery of the field. The date 1911 appears in the lower exergue area, referencing the original coin type being commemorated. The portrait closely follows the original Mackennal effigy used on Canadian coinage from 1911.
