Obverse description Left-facing effigy of King George V wearing an imperial crown and robes, designed by Edgar Bertram MacKennal after the portrait used on circulating coinage from 1911 to 1920. The king is depicted in a draped and armored bust with fine detail in the crown jewels and collar. The surrounding legend reads GEORGIVS V REX ET IND: IMP:, identifying the monarch as King and Emperor of India. The inscription is rendered in Latin script along the upper and lower periphery of the field.
