Obverse description Right-facing effigy of King Edward VII, depicted with a full beard and wearing an ornate imperial crown with selective rose gold plating highlighting the regalia and robes. The draped and decorated bust is rendered in fine relief against a mirror-polished field, with the engraver's initials 'DeS' visible below the truncation. A beaded inner border frames the design, with the circumferential Latin legend reading 'EDWARDVS VII DEI GRATIA REX IMPERATOR' above and 'CANADA' below, separated by raised dots. The portrait faithfully reproduces George W. DeSaulles's original effigy used on Canadian coinage of the Edwardian era.
