Obverse description Bare-headed left-facing effigy of King George VI, modelled by Thomas Humphrey Paget, occupies the central field. The king is portrayed in a restrained, unadorned style consistent with Paget's canonical portrait used throughout the British Commonwealth. The engraver's initials 'HP' appear incuse at the base of the neck truncation. The circumferential Latin legend reads 'GEORGIVS VI D:G: REX ET IND:IMP:' and is separated from the effigy by a wide flat field, with a beaded border encircling the entire obverse.
