Florida's 1935 liquor tax stamps were issued in the immediate wake of Prohibition's repeal — the 21st Amendment passed in December 1933, and states scrambled to build regulatory and revenue frameworks almost overnight. Florida's Department of Revenue moved quickly to assert control over alcohol sales through a stamp tax system, with the 1-cent denomination covering the lowest tier of taxable transactions.
At 35 x 21 mm, these are among the smallest fiscal documents the state produced. Survival rate is low — they were affixed and destroyed in use, as intended.
