Opmerkingen

Field Force Canteen tokens issued by the Army Y.M.C.A. in British East Africa were a practical solution to a persistent problem: soldiers in remote forward positions had no reliable access to small change, and military paymasters were not about to flood the field with coin. The Y.M.C.A. operated canteen services under British military auspices across multiple East African theatres during the early 1940s campaign against Italian forces in Abyssinia and Somaliland, issuing these low-denomination paper slips redeemable only within the canteen system itself.

Webster's signature as authorizing officer is the only accountability mechanism on the note — no serial numbers, no security printing, no redemption date.
