The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank replaced its predecessor institution, the East Caribbean Currency Authority, in 1983 — meaning early strikes in this series technically predate the bank whose name they would eventually carry. The ECCB serves eight island territories simultaneously, an arrangement that has kept per-territory mintages low enough to make common-date examples harder to find in quantity than their long production run implies.
