Reverse description A sprig of two maple leaves on a common stem, with a third leaf partially visible behind, rendered in naturalistic relief after the design of George Kruger Gray. The denomination 1 CENT is inscribed in the upper field above the maple sprig. The date appears in the lower left field flanking the stem, and the engraver's initials K·G appear to the lower right. The legend CANADA arcs along the lower periphery, and a continuous inner bead border frames the design on all sides.
