| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse bears a three-line inscription in bold raised lettering reading 'NEDERL. INDIE' across the upper and central fields, with the four-digit date positioned below. A five-pointed star is struck in the upper field above the inscription, serving as an ornamental device. A mint-master's initial mark appears beneath the date. The composition fills the entire flan with no surrounding border legend, giving the reverse a straightforward, utilitarian appearance characteristic of colonial copper coinage of the period. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
The duit had circulated in the East Indies for nearly two centuries before Willem I's administration finally standardized the coinage under a coherent decimal framework in the early 1830s. The Dutch East India Company had issued duits in enormous, poorly controlled quantities — different weights, different alloys — leaving the colonial monetary system in a state of chronic confusion that persisted well past the VOC's dissolution in 1799.
KM#290 was struck at Utrecht. The 1838 and 1839 dates are considerably harder to locate than the earlier issues in the run.
